Today . .

-
AAUW's Educational Foundation is the
world's largest source of funding exclusively for graduate
women, offering fellowships and grants, and supporting research,
community action projects and other related activities.
-
AAUW's Legal Advocacy Fund is the
nation's largest legal fund focused solely on gender
discrimination in higher education. Looking to the future,
AAUW will expand our LAF focus beyond the academic sphere to the
wider workplace in concert with our Value Promise that we will
break down educational and economic barriers so that ALL
women will have a fair chance.
-
AAUW's significant research on topics
such as pay equity and sexual harassment on campuses are used
by advocates and decision makers in developing policies to
address women's issues.
-
AAUW's many well conceived programs in
areas such as voter registration and its National Girls
Collaborative Project which aims to increase the number of girls
interested in science, technology, engineering and math, serve
as models for local branches to use in developing their own
programs.
In addition to such
lofty mission-based activities and efforts, a major draw for
AAUW members has
always been the camaraderie and long-term friendships members
find in their
local branches. And having fun is always a priority, at least among the
members of the Kansas City Missouri branch!
